Seems to be an intermittent draw. The contact had to remove the battery from the vehicle in order for the instrument panel to shut off. So if you're overlay doesn't fit over just perfect, that's probably why.

Reguardless if they fix it or I do I just wanted to thank the guys in this thread who contributed to diagnosing this problem. They also found a fault code pertaining to the remote start since it went out at the same time. Step 2 — Disassemble the instrument cluster Remove the screws from the back of the cluster, then pull off the white cover. All of the above was with the headlight switch off. The F-150's dashboard must be disassembled in a certain order; otherwise you may damage the dashboard. Remove the four 7mm screws holding the instrument panel in place, pull it out slightly, and disconnect the harnesses on the back. At night, when you open the driver's door, the dashboard illumination speedometer, other gauges comes on automatically. Once I did this I unplugged the wires going into the actuator and plugged them back in making sure I had a solid connection. You will need a Phillips screwdriver and a slotted screwdriver to remove the dashboard of your F-150. If your truck doesn't have this, don't worry about it.
Asked car max can they upgrade the my ford touch sync system to include navigation. Hopefully they will make it right it not I'll have to try what has been suggested. It is located on the inside of the column about about halfway down and under the plastic cover and is a serviceable part, base part number 3Z719. I'm not saying it won't eventually but it's nice to know that if it does I know for sure what it is and it does not look very difficult to replace on your own Guy listed the proper part number above. You are dealing with circuit cet52 green wire that goes from the shifter switch in the column to the cluster.
